Sikelela Steel is an engineering company specializing in the manufacture of quality pressure vessels, mainly vessels used for the storage of LPG and Propane. Sikelela Steel is wholly owned and run by the Harris Family, who were also known as the owners of D.H. Harris (Pty) Ltd. D.H. Harris was a company that started in 1946 and made a name for itself in the market place through quality and innovation in design.
In the new working conditions and environment, we are faced with today, Sikelela Steel strives to continue providing the industry with quality products and services. Sikelela Steel has the combined skills and experience of over 11 000 pressure vessels in our repertoire. Combining the latest designs in pressure vessels along with the skills and expertise passed down over the many years and generations, our clients are ensured that the product they receive is tailor-made to suit their needs.
In recent years, Sikelela has not only grown to include more services but we have also expanded our factory for our ever-growing larger projects. We have become a company that offers more in-house services to our repertoire including installations, vessel refurbishments, road tanker 36 monthly refurbishments and other turn-key solutions. We are always looking to the future of gas supply and safety and believe that gas-energy has a powerful role to play in South Africa.
In the September of 1946, D.H. Harris (Pty) Ltd opened its doors for business. Initially, the company specialized in general boiler making and welding, servicing the South African mining industry and local fabrication companies. From the outset, quality was of the utmost importance for both the staff and management of D.H. Harris, no matter how big or small the job was. Industries very soon became aware of this and in 1948, an internationally based Petro-chemical company, working in South Africa, commissioned D.H. Harris to build their first LPG Storage vessel. These initial vessels built, formed the foundation for what was to become known as “the standard LPG vessel in South Africa”. Today Sikelela Steel strives to continue this proud heritage of pressure vessel manufacturing and offer clients the best quality product their money can buy.
